Hospital Blues
The window of the hospital room is her only sign of relief. Yet the bold color of the skies in October that sweep away the bleached clouds uncannily resembles the mysterious blues of the sea. The powder blue skies may be relaxing at a toasty summer day picnic and robustly sapphire during a hurricane gearing to wrench a family apart. The electric blue waters outside may sometimes be turbulent and full of caution where other days calmly aquamarine so a father and son can fish. And yet those same shades of blue can be found in the eyes of a woman in the hospital when a baby is wrapped in his cerulean blanket and finally placed gently, and firmly, in her arms.
