He was a stray
destined for freedom, strength
and a stubborn worry-free life.

She was like a pet
destined for admiration, passion
and a structured dream-filled life.

Yet these two crossed paths
one day and it chained their destinies
to the front yard.

He feared the restraints.

She feared the unknown.

He pulled their destiny crossed
chain toward the street
begging for freedom.

She pulled their chained destiny
toward the house wishing for
structure.

They had to either learn to allow
for freedom and restraints, structure and unknowns.
They had to learn to live both lives
or their pulling would break
their destiny chain linked lives apart
and they would run their separate ways.
Never to meet again.

Yet they would always carry half
a chain-linked life
and half a chain-linked memory
of their destiny.
